Salida, despedida, arrival in Nicaragua
We drove through a fog on our way to the airport and I felt it was a fitting metaphor for the journey ahead. I'm not sure what I will find in Nicaragua, what experiences are around the bend, but I will find out in time.
I decided to change my blog theme, just to help differentiate that now I am in Nicaragua. There will be more photos to come soon!
In summary of the past week or so, orientation went well, goodbyes were hard, and now I'm here sweating in Nicaragua. I have a lovely host family, all women. My host mom has a strong personality and is very energetic. She plays volleyball with her coworkers several times a week. My host sisters (all 3 of them) are beautiful and lots of fun. We have a german shepherd guard dog and two lovebirds as pets. Just outside my house there is a park with a basketball court and a playground.
We are now preparing to head several hours to the mountains to accompany fellow SALTer Abby to her placement.
Hasta luego!
