my bed(s)
Familiar, comfort, known, my own
I know thy mattress well
and I long for thee
to carry me into dreams
this night that falls upon me
I miss my bed. I realized that I have slept in 10 different beds over the past 3.5 weeks in the three different countries I've been traveling in. This made me want to document my different "beds". I only have photos of two of them, both in Congo, but perhaps this will be the start of a "travel beds" photo series. The first was taken at a Catholic guesthouse in Kikwit, a town in Western Congo. Notice the glow-in-the-dark Jesus that hangs above the bed and my partial reflection in the mirror. The second was taken in Mukedi where we stayed for 2 nights to visit a hospital that MCC supports with medicines. The house was built by missionaries in 1920 and now a Congolese doctor and his family live there.
Right now I'm in Chicago, en route to Harrisburg, en route home to Lancaster and I am exhausted after nearly 37 hours of traveling/flying/layovers. I plan to post a blog about Congo experiences eventually but when I am in right mind.
Christmas is nearing! I am staring out the window of the Chicago airport onto icy snow covered lands.
