A trip to the beach

Enjoy a slideshow of photos from our mini-vaca trip to San Juan del Sur, a small town about 3 hours drive from Managua. The ladies that were along for the excursion were SALTers Abby and Amanda and my host sister Norma.

The best part of the trip was making connections with the owner of the hotel who gave us a free ride to and from a private beach in his pickup truck. It was beautiful, the water and the waves were perfect, there were rocks that you could walk on that looked like the texture of dragon skin, and I made friends with the hermit crabs. We walked down to a surfing beach where Amanda took her first surf lesson and she did excellent (see pic).

Yesterday I decided to get out my watercolor paints and experiment since I was on "guard duty" for the morning at the MCC office/house and had a quiet space to relax. The first thing I painted was a mermaid, partially inspired by our beach adventure and mostly inspired by Megan and I's upcoming children's book. :)

I also had time to worship through dance and and listen to my church's sermon online. It was a refreshing time for body, mind and soul.
