comidas

Enjoy a few photos of some of the new foods I'm trying. The first two are of a nacatamal, which is a mixture of ground corn, meat, tomato, rice and onion wrapped in a banana leaf. My host sister Norma tells me it's usually eaten for breakfast.

Next you will see a photo of Amanda and Vanessa, two of my MCC friends, eating Eskimo icecream. Eskimo is the popular ice cream brand around here and we dropped by the airconditioned food court in the mall on our way home from Spanish class the other day to eat some!

The soup is called sopa de albondigas (i think) which means meatball soup. It was delicious but way more than what I could eat! We were served this when we took Abby to visit her host family in the countryside.

And last but not least, a way cool fruit related to leechees, mamon chino. I think it looks like an alien dinosaur egg. You pop it open and inside there is a jelly like white egg thing that you eat. In the middle of it there is a seed that you spit out.

Until next time...adios!
